04:09 am	Akikojam	Dynasty Warriors Empires 9 isn't even hiding that enemies are cheating. AI allies get rekt by empty bases, despite having overwhelming advantage, they are utterly useless. But even just strategems work differently for you and enemies. For example, summon fire tiger. When you use it: A sorcerer appears and either summons three overpowered officers or a fire tiger that you need to defeat, after which a fire tiger spawns on your side and... doesn't really do much. When enemies use it: A fire tiger spawns on their side. That's it. No conditions. And it is a really difficult enemy to beat, since it's immune to stun and spams AoE.

Yesterday 01:25 pm	Akikojam	KeeperRL seems like a fairly interesting game. It's an open world Dungeon Keeper. If you take control of a unit or a squad, it becomes turn-based instead. And aside from classic one, you can play as humans, a neutral adventurer, a necromancer and some other factions.

The fun thing is, the only reason anyone heard or cares about that movie at all is because Suisei is singing the opening. Usually, it's supposed to be the other way around, it being a privilege to sing an opening or endings. But this time it's a privilege for the studio instead.

May 7, 2024	Akikojam	It doesn't seem like those numbers in 470 that in the game match the ones in pokedex. I still hope they eventually add all of them. There are several that I really want to see fusions of. Conkeldurr, Lilligant, Gothitelle (maybe at least one of them gives a decent goth loli instead of... that), Escavalier (could have really cool fusions with humanoids), Meloetta, weird genie trio (maybe with a triple fusion of those three), Delphox, Greninja, Florges, Klefki, Noivern (could result in a cool harpy), Decidueye, Gumshoos (one of those is definitely Trump), Shiinotic. Definitely Mimikyu, but it might already be in the game, I just never found it. I think it is, and it has near infinite potential. Hatterene or Mismagius and tea cup could have some cool fusions, a witch drinking tea. The newest ones like Mewscarada could definitely result is some cool masked creatures. Fusing Tinkaton with the bird she's killing could be interesting. Houndstone could definitely result in a few morbid fusions, like with the one wearing a skull.

May 6, 2024	Akikojam	I see Fate/Extra CCC is much weirder than normal Fate/Extra. Normal one is a really serious tournament, about as serious as Fate. CCC is a single deep dungeon, first boss is Rin and you defeat her by kinkshaming her.

May 6, 2024	Akikojam	I started up .hack//Link trying to remember why I stopped. Tried talking to Atoli to progress and the game crashed. Now I remember... of course it's forking Atoli. It got fixed when I updated the PSP emulator, so I can now progress, except I have no memory of what I was doing.

May 6, 2024	Akikojam	Story aside, Labyrinth games are the best Wizardry clones so far, since there is at least a lot of character customization. Which still somehow loses to Wizardry 6, a 1990 game. How is it that the leveling system is way more rigid than a fossil of a game?
May 6, 2024	Akikojam	Oh, turns out Class of Heroes is on steam. I played both games on PSP, they were... okay. Clearly inspired by Wizardry, which is good. But pretty limited in systems, which isn't. And it doesn't seem like PC port does anything special, despite being fairly pricey.

May 3, 2024	Akikojam	Both Dark Souls and Elden Ring I believe give you a tutorial boss that is supposed to kill you (or you can escape in rare cases), which you later come back to fight again. But I don't remember if any of them have that boss come back stronger each time, wanting revenge just like you did.
May 3, 2024	Akikojam	I love Jubjub's description in a guide though. ＂If she's not killed or imprisoned by the time the protagonist makes it to progress 10, she will kill every NPC in the game＂. That's... pretty metal, actually. I think it isn't really every NPC, there are few exceptions, and I think your current covenant survives. But yeah, when you don't know about it first and go to check a merchant only to find a pool of blood, it's always a great confusion.
May 3, 2024	Akikojam	Black Souls 2 has two of the most epic moments, both only work if you played the first game before. First one is the dragon Helkaizer. It kills you when the game starts, only then the game starts. After you level up a bunch, you come back for revenge and kill it. Then you run into Zombie Helkaizer and kill it again. Then you find Rotten Helkaizer and kill it for the third time. In a bonus dungeon in 2, you can meet him again, kill all three forms, he disappears, battle is about to end, only for him to come back as a Spirit Helkaizer. And after you beat him, he dies saying ＂see you in hell, my nemesis＂. I absolutely love that. The other one is entering a random cave in 2 and suddenly screen going dark and a music starts playing before you get attacked by a girl with a giant axe. Nothing too unusual, plenty of Nightmare Spirits attack you in a similar way. But the bgm is different. If you played 1, you recognize it as Black Trial theme, and the girl is Miranda, one of the optional companions and the only one of two not from any fairy tale. Since everyone other than Red Hood are dead from first game, it's nice to see her alive. She is also the only one that survives in the ending where you have to kill all of your companions to reach the truth. Black Trial is a special group that hunts you if your Sin is too high. If you kill the innocents or stuff like that. And they are all badasses, but that mechanic is not in the game. So hearing that bgm is better than any H-scene, you know you're about to fight someone cool.
May 2, 2024	Akikojam	Checked out Classroom of the Elites. Feels like a mix between Assassination Classroom, Another and Oregairu. Has a hint of mystery genre, and a good one, so I'm on board. I was ignoring it, since I thought it's just another classroom harem, but seems no. Protag brilliantly avoiding an overused cliche event by explaining why it is logistically stupid.

May 2, 2024	Akikojam	And to get there, you must go past Jack the Ripper and have a ring from the Asylum boss... ring doesn't disappear through playthroughs though, so that's fine. But on my first playthrough, I couldn't beat either Jack or Asylum in time.
May 2, 2024	Akikojam	Right, now I remember. You have to either kill or imprison Jubjub in Black Souls 2, and do it pretty early. At some point, either after you defeated a certain amount of bosses, or progressed far enough, she goes on a murderous rampage and kills most other heroines. She does that regardless of whether you met and romanced her or not, so that's one romance you should really avoid.

Aside from sequel to Oshi no Ko, which I'm not going to watch, since I never went past first episode in the first one and Tower of God S2, which I'll check out for sure, the only potentially interesting one is Isekai Suicide Squad.

Apr 30, 2024	Akikojam	That's actually one of the biggest flaws of Death Mage. A really bloated cast. Somehow, I don't think any of the characters are forgotten, they get some screentime once in a while, but it's still weird how a random pet mouse gets more screentime than someone like Kachia.
Apr 30, 2024	Akikojam	A good story really should never add major characters past halfway point. Secondary antagonists, supporting characters, but none of the main group. Rokujouma or Magika no Kenshi did it well. The story only started after we were introduced to all of heroines. While there were characters added later, and some of them really interesting, it isn't that important for us to know them well or for protag to have time to bond with them. I mean, technically Rokujouma did add a new heroine really late in the story, but that is a special case, since she was kinda around from the beginning, we just didn't know about her.
Apr 30, 2024	Akikojam	And yet another heroine added to the harem in Sengoku Koihime. And yet again I think that authors are quite stupid for adding so much protagonist bias. The heroine in question is acting practically like spouses with another heroine. Instead of making everyone fall for protag for next to no reason, distorting time and space to make it possible, a much better writing would've been to make those two heroines a couple instead and show it from their perspective. It's really frustrating, since if it wasn't for this protagonist centricity so common to VNs, it would've been a far more interesting story, possibly on par with Majikoi. As it is now however, it's better than normal Koihime, but plagued by a lot of the same problems. There's also the fact that heroines that get added later in the story get WAY less character and relationship development before romance happens, since... well, there's no time left. That is a problem that happens in JRPGs as well, when you get awesome characters late in the story.

There's like 20-30 caravans moving in one line between a castle and some other location. There's usually like 2-3 of them in vicinity, I don't know what happened for so many of them to spawn.

Apr 27, 2024	Akikojam	Disney, Nintendo, Bethesda, Blizzard, Bioware (acquired by EA, latest games including Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem). SEGA is more or less doing still okay, but sometimes they do something really stupid. Koei's latest Musou games are really meh, while their prices are rising. I think Gust is still doing great with Atelier series though. Idea Factory is... kinda on the low, with latest two Disgaea games being a disappointment, though 7 was an improvement over 6 at least. Gearbox is definitely much weaker than it was when it made first Borderlands, they are desperately clinging to Borderlands franchise. Meanwhile, Bullfrog is gone, Black Isle Studio is gone, 3DO Company is gone, Westwood Studios is gone. Somehow, Game Arts is still around, but they haven't made a game since 2012, aside from some remastered releases.
