I was thinking to myself, but "wait, what bout his curse?" "what about Puck, EMT, Beel's cult? Did they just fade into obscurity?" But if it's written by the author themselves, the original author at that and not some standin replacement (coughstarwarsandhalocough),then I'm afraid that it's not just mere fanfiction. It's a different type of canon. So if they made the whole background development irrelevant to affect the entire world including them, then it's been resolved by itself like you said. Most likely by Rein or other upholders of the law. I mean maybe that magic knight guy whatever that controls the spirits. I'm sure many people would've banded up and taken down puck. And the cult.
Jul 27, 2019	YuriYuri	@Jam but then what was the point of the "What if" story regarding Rem if she wouldn't allow it? Clearly, she was just saying it to further encourage him to aim for EMT. But sounds like she doesn't much true conviction behind her words, especially once she broke down in tears afterwards. To me, it sounds like she was doing the right thing for his own sake. But then later on she showed her regret through her tears. At least, that's what I got out of it. And I'm sure others got that same conclusion out of that scenario as well.

You know the part where he was majorly depressed and did that whole "I still love EMT" thing. That's what I was referring to. And that Rem pretending to die didn't happen in the anime. Though it's pretty funny and cute on her part, I do say.
Jul 27, 2019	YuriYuri	Well, in terms of manga, a lot of works tends to not end up the same as how they began. A good example that comes to mind is Yakitate Japan, Golden Boy, Excel Saga. I hear plenty of original works go that way. In a way that you would either never expect or would never see on anime/TV. After all, it's the author's medium to take it however they want. And it just usually ends up bizarrely.

They either make the other girls as mere friends or friends with benefits. But that doesn't mean they are actually in love or "legally" bound to each other. Just because a guy disappears into the sunset with a group of girls doesn't mean they are all lovers. You don't even know what happens in the end. Again, the only time I consider a true successful harem is where they are all actually married or whatever and bear the MC's kid or something.

Well to be fair, the author themselves have stumbled on that fact since she did cry after him saying he still loves EMT, insinuating a broken heart. And if she really was considered a 2nd waifu, then there would've been absolutely no need for that whole "what if" story with her and Subaru. It's more like Author realizing how much they also like Rem and couldn't stand her being left out, main story or not, and probably made up this weird compromising plea deal.

Even though in all technicality, she is the main heroine. But then again, slowly but surely, it's becoming the age of side/support heroines. Like with TWGOK, Oregariu, Re:Zero (both latter through side novels), Naruto, and so on. Or perhaps these were just exceptions...

Well, no harm done there. But I'm really interested in how Beatrice will be portrayed and how much relevance she has in the story.

If we're talking about 90s slapstick comedy anime like say Excel Saga and whatnot, then yes of course. But not in more recent animes, where they are depicted more down to earth. Even more comedies are being more down to Earth, like Seitokai Yakuindomo or Oregairu or Noucome. More and more anime comedies are becoming more of slice of life rather than wacky looney tunes esque anime of the 90s/early 2k like Nagasarete Airantou.

But that doesn't mean he suddenly becomes a master of everything with a countless amount of skills. He works with what he has, which is his respawn ability and creativity. Like claiming his phone is metia. Again, like you stated back earlier, different anime with different rules. Kazuma didn't know how to wield a sword or bow before being transported to a faraway land. Nor did he wish upon Aqua to be a fighter. He eventually picked it up himself. Granted that world kinda worked like an RPG due to skill stats. But then again, so did Danmachi... So that's kinda irrelevant.

What witch? ≻Let me ask you this, do YOU have fighting skills or magic skills? What I can or can't do is irrelevant for this topic on hand. Also, if I was in his shoes, knowing my way around isekais or rpgs/animes in general, I personally would've taken the time to actually train myself to becoming better. Although some of it would be absolutely pointless since when he dies, everything gets resetted to a certain weird checkpoint. But that's not real issue here. Again, objectively he IS useless. The only reason he would go as he is now is to just practically kamekaze himself in order to gain more knowledge about his enemies. Like always.

So it would actually just be more of a praise from Rem fans. That's why I asked for her thought process. If she came outright and said "he's useless" or something like that, like a cheating wife out of a NTR doujin or something lol, then yeah people will outrage and consider her as a thot and whatnot. But that's not how some people will regard if she doesn't say anything and just tries to fight an important battle without him. I mean, there were plenty of other animes that did that, where the MC leaves behind the heroine or comrades, so they could go fighting the final battle themselves. And let's be frank and serious here. People would totally be on her side because they would agree. He IS useless. He has no fighting skills or magic skills to speak of. The only advantage he ever had in this entire series up to a certain where they decide to train him seriously, is his knowledge of how the future plays out. That's it. Sure clairvoyance is a hell of a tool. But it's not like he can manipulate to his will. And he still relies on others to do the battles for him. Like during that sky whale conflict.

As far as I know, she basically idolizes Subaru, since he saved her in the second and third arcs, to the point that she becomes and apprentice maid. Does she keep her personality and design looks? Because I don't really dig girls with short hair, unless their personality is really something. And her personality so far even as a minor was just very meh.

In some animes, they don't even reveal their age. So again, if they wanted to make the age a factor, then they would do so. But many animes I've seen casually ignore the rules and boundaries of age, in more ways than one. No where did they bring up the age as a factor for like making out or doing some grievous things. The only time I see them bringing out the age card is usually for like drinking alcohol.

Cuz if that's normal, then I would be afraid to see what is abnormal. I'm more bringing up the fact that like you said, age is not a factor, in anime of all things. Hell, a 1000 year old dragon loli can still act and look like a child. Or an actual 9 year old kid could act well beyond his/her years. In an anime, age has no relevance or bearing, other than for certain relatability (15-16 year olds for teen demographics or 9 year old loli/shotas for people with those tastes). Especially Ash/Satoshi doesn't ever seem to age at all, no matter how much time has passed. Hell in some animes or mangas or games, they don't even reveal their age.

Because in anime, even 10 year old kid could be written to be mature enough to handle some extreme situations. I mean look at Hunter x Hunter's Gon and Killua. ≻Also, it feels like everything I said about how pointless the whole waifu war is got ignored. Sorry, didn't read that. I only joined this chat after coming back from leaving that comment about Sad panda and saw your picture. And just put in a quip. And then Aggy decided to jump in what was to be a simple quip on matter. And that's what sparked this.

Like you just said, you may understand his actions, but that still doesn't make you like him any more. Same with me. I may understand some of his actions, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. He will forever be a pretty bad MC in my honest opinion. And honestly that's what I drew up on. It's funny you saying I should stop watching and chill out on some other anime. Even though I haven't watched Re:Zero for more than 2 years? I only finished the first season. Never went back to the 2nd season. Never read the light novel. This was all just by memory.
Jul 27, 2019	YuriYuri	Well you do know that despite how Okabe looks in that picture compared to Subaru (ak their height), he's not that old himself. He's actually 18 years old ya know. And I just checked Wikia that Subaru was 17 when he started off in his adventures. So Okabe only has just 1 year lead on him. And we all know 1 year is pretty meaningless in terms of actual experience and wisdom, especially in contemporary modern settings' standards. And yet Okabe made more better moves than Subaru did. So it's not really a good excuse to use that he's just a kid, as if we're implying that he's just like what... 13? Even then that's just a teen. Kids are usually classified in the 10 year range like Satoshi/Ash. But he's 17 years old ffs. He's already a young adult. So he's not the atypical 15-16 year high school boy protag. He's 17 and nearing 18 which essentially adult status. In the States, depending on severity of crimes he could commit, he could even be likely to be tried as an adult since he's so close to that marker. And then he became 18 later on in arc 5. So no, I'm afraid I personally can't forgive his stupid actions/choices. Especially not with that age excuse. Granted, EMT was no better since she just ditched him and then Rem had to pick up the pieces (and yet he still chose EMT...). Anyways, I rather not dare put him in the leagues of Okabe Rintarou. For all of Okabe's antics, he was just putting a false bravado facade that he originally had donned on for Mayushi's sake. And yet he was a trooper. And when he fell, it wasn't hysterical and just cringey like Subaru's breakdown. And in the true official path, he chose best girl Kurisu, instead of Mayushi in the normal ending. So in the end, all I chalk it up to is the different personalities, since if you really think about it, you'd actually have hard time to trying to equate the two together. After all, Subaru's "disco pose" is a poor imitation of Okabe's Houuin Kyouma pose. And just kinda utterly retarded imho when I first saw it... Also, his logic and reasoning is VERY questionable at best. Okabe was just a chuunibyou/mad scientist persona. But Subaru? He was like an utter oddball (I mean he chose to be a mansion butler/servant of all things when first offered a stay...). I mean the only reason that artist drew them together because they happen to both eccentric in their own quirky way, have messy black hair, is at a Jr/high school student age, and they "time travelled" to save their friends/loved ones. That's it. I mean, the official creators have collaborated with/for less by putting him and Kazuma from Konosuba together just because... They both wear jerseys? They both are from isekai animes??? Otherwise, their personalities couldn't be further from each other than how Pluto is far from Earth. So sometimes the parallels people draw are sometimes just kinda petty or trivial, not because they are an exact match to each other or anything. Otherwise, I could draw pointless parallels like with say Goku with Jojo because they are both brawny and fight all masculine-like with their fists of fury and both from Shonen/seinen animes targeted for males.

If you recall that infamous line "I still love EMT". Also, he had Beatrice on one run, for however short it was. And like as the fool he was, he didn't bother to go make her into an ally again in his next runs... Which is stupid since it would be a great boon to have a magic user like her to be on his side. Not to mention, it's just stupid to just throw away the things that he had accomplished and was supposed to have learned. Granted he took a few lessons to heart and employed them in the last run at the end of season 1. But still... If I were him, I would've/could've done better. And he was a freaking hikkikomori/otaku, too ffs...
